The business of dairy farming is dependent on efficient reproduction and optimum production status of individual animals in the herd. Farmer needs to have adequate knowledge of reproductive cyclicity of dairy animals, so as to prevent common problems like anoestrus, repeat breeding, placental retention, prolapse of genitalia and abortion in dairy animals. Farmer must know that reproduction is a luxury for the animal and attention as well as investment must be put for harvesting rich dividends through targeted Calf-at- foot-every- year programme.
